Crafting the Visual Identity of Runaway
Client: Steel Sirens (Fictitious Rock Band)
Role: Graphic Designer
Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
Medium: Digital, Print
Skills: Graphic Design, Album Art, Photo Editing, Creative Direction
The “Runaway” album cover was designed for a fictional rock band, Steel Sirens, as part of my portfolio project. The objective was to capture the rebellious and energetic spirit of the band, while playing on the album’s title, “Runaway.” This design showcases my ability to combine visual storytelling, strong contrasts, and bold typography in a way that resonates with both the band’s identity and the album’s theme.

The Process
- Drew central visual inspiration from the powerful, raw energy of the lead singer.
- Began by experimenting with various color schemes to match the attitude of the music.
- Chose a vibrant yellow and blue duotone palette to enhance the edgy, rock-and-roll aesthetic.
- Applied a glow effect to both the singer and the repeated “Runaway” text, amplifying the dynamic and electrifying feel of the cover.
- Incorporated a symbolic element—a road embedded within the “Runaway” text, reinforcing the theme of escaping or running away.
- Repeated the word “Runaway” six times behind the singer to intensify the sense of movement and urgency, echoing the momentum of the music.

A Bold Escape: The Final ‘Runaway’ Album Cover
The end result is an album cover that stands out with its high-contrast, duotone aesthetic on a stark black background. The combination of glowing text and imagery creates a bold visual identity for Steel Sirens, aligning with their fierce and energetic persona. This design not only reflects the theme of the album but also pushes the boundaries of my creative abilities, as it marks the second album cover I’ve designed and a project where I challenged myself to explore new techniques.
